Vice Merchants, the brainchild of former hedge fund trader Jake Katz and veteran fashion designer Ryan Rock, uniquely melds sensually charged illustrations with the highest quality materials.
Behind the scenes a dedicated group of well-established illustrators work feverishly to expand the brand’s design offerings, while making sure they meet the highest aesthetic and quality standards. Each print is part of an exclusive, limited edition collection.
After graduating from California College of the Arts with a degree in Illustration, Barnes moved to New York City where she worked in the art department for PAPER and as an illustrator for VIBE Magazine. Soon thereafter she co-founded Femme Arsenal, a fashion-forward lifestyle brand. Featured in a slew of glossies including Harper’s Bazaar, WWD, and TONY, Femme Arsenal catapulted Barnes to a new level of success. In 2005, she and her partner sold the company to Ecko Unltd and Barnes spent time traveling and teaching before returning to her hometown, San Francisco, where she now works as a designer. Known for creating offbeat yet feminine artwork, her characters are fraught with exotic, offbeat loveliness, which lends itself immaculately to infusing Vice Merchants graphics with tasteful sex appeal.
Brooklyn-based artist Katie Commodore has an undergraduate degree from Maryland Institute, College of Art and a Masters of Fine Art degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work, known for its insightful look at human sexuality, has been exhibited in numerous prestigious exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe.
Since graduating from the School of Visual Arts New, York-based illustrator Amanda Lanzone has been building an impressive portfolio of visuals, many of which highlight her years of experience drawing nude figures. A multi-award winning illustrator, Lanzone has done editorial art for the media, provocative graphics for beloved roller derby team the Botoxic Avengers, and seductive fashion illustrations.
Greg garry has worked in the magazine world at OUT, Complex, Huffpo, Radar, Flaunt, and Wallpaper magazines, throughout his successful career as a Creative Director, Photo Editor, and Writer. Known for his wild sense of humor and color, it’s little surprise that the new york-based creative soul has become a go-to idea guy for a diverse slew of brands.
After graduating from Parson's School for Design, J. David McKenney landed a coveted position designing T-shirt graphics and fabric prints for Heatherette. Press attention and more commercial and fashion illustration commissions soon followed including three marketing campaigns for Mariah Carey’s Elizabeth Arden fragrances after which Carey commissioned McKenney to create her personal holiday and birthday cards. McKenney has also worked with Harper Collins, Penguin Group, Saatchi Group, Scholastic Books, Elle Girl, Seventeen Magazine, Girl’s Life, Innovative Kids, Mattel, MAC cosmetics, and Nylon Magazine, among other notable brands and publications.
